STM Sports announce new Management Team

We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Gareth Morgan as the new manager of STM Sports AFC for the coming season. After some lengthy negotiations Gareth has agreed to take over the talented promotion winning squad as of 14th May 2017 having previously and successfully managed several clubs in the Welsh Football League, Cwmbran Celtic, Llanwern FC (gained promotion to Division 2), Croesyceiliog FC (Welsh League Cup Winners) and more recently at AFC Porth just missing out on promotion this season. We are looking for that experience to take the club forward and build on the achievements of the last nine years.

The experience of Gareth and his Assistant Player / Manager Dominic Dwyer at this level will be invaluable as the club ventures into new territory next season.

We will be looking for a period of consolidation and stabilisation next season as the club adapts to the new division and at the same time expanding the club with the introduction of our new Under 19's Team that will allow us to develop the young players from the wealth of talent that we are lucky enough to have in our area.

Gareth Morgan …... “the temptation to manage my local club was just too great to ignore, the squad oozes quality and their achievements to date have just been phenomenal, hopefully I can add to those achievements in the coming seasons”

“This is Welsh Football” photography competition

Cameras at the ready!

To celebrate the tremendous work being done by clubs, schools and communities to promote the grassroots game in Wales, UEFA and the Football Association of Wales have launched the “This is Welsh Football” photo competition.

As Wales prepares to host two of the biggest matches in domestic football, the UEFA Champions League Final and UEFA Women’s Champions League Final, it’s important that we recognise the incredible work being done at grassroots level.

The competition is open to all ages and abilities, as long as the photos are taken in Wales, and depict grassroots football in two categories:

On the Pitch – Open to interpretation, this could be match action, training, goals, saves, tackles, referees, coaches etc.

Off the Pitch – Open to interpretation, this could be a pie at half time, team kit being washed, passionate supporters, the bus journey to the match etc.
