- AFC Llwydcoed v Dinas Powys - Match Report

Llwydcoed crashed to their sixth defeat of the season with this latest defeat, their second consecutive home defeat. Dinas won the game with goals from Adam Johns (2) . AFC Llwydcoed Manager David Haggett was without the services of Luke Davies and Jordan Ellis.

The match started with Llwydcoed controlling the early stages with Luke Spencer, Joe Jenkins and Garin Withers combining. The hosts were passing and moving creating problems for the Dinas defence, they responded with James Bloxham and Nathan Donnelly clearing the danger. More good play by Llwydcoed's Lewis Holder, Matthew Doherty and Jonathan Mason saw the Dinas defence come under more pressure and then against the run of play Dinas James Bloxham played a through ball into Llwydcoed defence that was not cleared and Dinas striker Adam Johns flighted the ball over the Llwydcoed goalkeeper Andy Hargreaves to open the scoring. The team who seemed more likely to score was Llwydcoed but it was Dinas who had and they shocked Llwydcoed again with another goal Luke Swaffield played a ball through the Llwydcoed defence that was not cleared and Adam Johns took full advantage to score, what a dismal start for Llwydcoed. The Dinas players were working non stop for each other. Lwydcoed's Luke Spencer tried to create something from midfield supported by Ricky Carter but the Dinas defence worked and cleared the threat. Dinas ended the half two goals clear, Llwydcoed's attacking play had been excellent in the first half but had given away two gift wrapped goals to Dinas.

HT 0-2

The second half began and Llwydcoed were almost rewarded with a goal in their very first attack. Goalkeeper Andy Hargreaves found Jonathan Mason in space and he flew through the Dinas shape, the cross ball just failed to find a Llwydcoed attacker. More good play by Llwydcoed's midfield began to bring Scot Walters, Luke Spencer and Lewis Holder into good positions. The Dinas midfield of Myles Case, Kieron James and Luke Swaffield covered the danger, Llwydcoed were now on top gaining more and more possession through Jonathan Mason and Garin Withers. The Dinas defence were well supported by their goalkeeper James Curtin at this difficult time, the goal the hosts required at this stage did not materialise. The match entered the final third of the game and Llwydcoed began to use their substitutes with Andrew Ellis, Oliver Roberts and Tyler Hollidge entering the game. Dinas had defended as a unit for most of the second half but they almost scored a third, Ryan Garland hitting the post, Llwydcoed were rewarded for their belief and desire with a goal, Ricky Carter worked the space and Jonathan Mason scored so the hosts had been given an opportunity to gain at least a point. The Dinas goalkeeper James Curtin pulled off a point blank save , saving a certain equaliser. Time and time again Llwydcoed's midfield created the opening but the ball across just failed to find a Llwydcoed player. Agonisedly the Dinas players were hanging on to their one goal advantage. They had a few break aways, they should have added to their goal bank account but this time a Dinas player missed the opportunity to ease their nerves.

As the match entered the final minutes Llwydcoed's players tried desperately to equalise with Garin Withers creating a chance that the Dinas defence cleared. Dinas were not to be denied the victory, those two first half goals proved too much for Llwydcoed who deserved a draw for their second half display.
