RESERVE DIVISION WEST

PENYBONT v AFC LLWYDCOED 23/11/2019

Penybont gained their first victory of the season thanks to Llwydcoed's players who gift wrapped them one goal in each half.

The opening quarter saw Penybont young players causing lots of problems for the Llwydcoed players time and again they broke open the visitors shape with Ioan Imanuel, Owain Hughes and Joseph Joyce causing pressure  on the Llwydcoed defence winning a corner as early as the 4th minute, Captain Tom Anthony scored with a header, there was only one team building attacks but after a difficult opening Llwydcoed gained some possession through Luke Spencer, Scott Walters Morgan Phillips and Michael Davies.  They were rewarded for this period of possession when Callum Henry and Robert Evans created a chance for Robert Evans who equalised with an excellent finish.  After ten minutes Penybont returned to the attack and Robbie Regan found space in the Llwydcoed defence to score.  The opening 15 minutes was full of opening attacking football not a game for defensive plaudits.  Llwydcoed returned to the attack more excellent play by Luke Spencer and Callum Henry saw Llwydcoed's ace striker Robert Evans equalise with a brilliant finish.  Four goals in the opening 20 minutes.  Llwydcoed were forced into a substitution losing  Callum Henry to injury, Liam Jones receiving the call. Llwydcoed were in control of possession and began to look to add to their goal tally.  Penybont were also still able to find space to attack the Llwydcoed defence and only a superb tackle by Lucas Evans prevented a Penybont player from racing away.  As the first half entered the closing stages Penybont's Owain Hopkins was allowed a free  shot that the Llwydcoed goalkeeper Iestyn Farley misjudged and Penybont scored their third goal.

HT 3-2

The second half started with a goal in the opening minutes this time it was Llwydcoed's turn with Liam Jones scoring a screamer from twenty five yards.  So Llwydcoed had drawn level three times,  could they build from this and score next.  They introduced substitutes Conor Beasley, and Sebastain Hobbs and began to look dangerous through Morgan Phillips and Liam Jones but the final ball was not finding Robert Evans.  The work rate of Luke Spencer in possession was excellent and then Llwydcoed as they had done in the first half lost possession through Callum Watkins and Penybont's Robbie Regan scored with a power shot in the sixty third minute.  Llwydcoed's response was first class but as hard as they tried for the equaliser this time the fourth goal would not come.  A disappointing result for Manager Mr Jonothon Price.  The mistakes had give Penybont the platform for them to win.
