- AFC Llwydcoed v West End - Match Report


Llwydcoed's final home match  of the 2018/2019 Season saw them gain the vital three points to maintain their status in The Welsh League Division Two.




AFC Llwydcoed C/O Managers Matthew Driscoll and:Lewis Holder were able to select from a near full strength squad only Morgan Andrews missing (suspended) after so many disruptions during the season




The much awaited rearranged fixture saw a bumper crowd in attendance and they did not have to wait long before they could celebrate.  West End were forced back on the defensive with Ross Daniels, Lewis Holder and Jordan Ellis closing down the space, this gave Llwydoced the advantage Chris Bristow  was able to moved forward and attack after winning a few set pieces he won a penalty after a West End defender was penalised for a high kick as the Llwydcoed player headed the ball so an early penalty ward that Elliott Morris stepped up to take and score, what a start for the Llwydcoed supporters.   The next passage of play by Llwydcoed saw them take a big step towards the three points a flowing move involving Elliott Morris, Jonathan Mason and Jordan Ellis saw Junming (Jimmy) Dong move into space and unleashed a superb  shot past the West End Keeper Lewis Gibbs to score.  What a start by Llwywdcoed, the West End defence were under constant pressure, they were penalised and the free kick taken by Lewis Holder was flicked on by the impressive Ross Daniels and Junming (Jimmy) Dong anticipated it and scored again.  The opening twenty five minutes saw Llwydcoed play at a high level first class work rate closing down as a team.  West End responded and they broke through the Llwydcoed shape with Nikki Parvin forcing the Llwydcoed goalkeeper Andy Hargreaves into an excellent save, the Llwydcoed goalkeeper goal kicking was top class in the first half giving his players a platform to work off.  The half time whistle blew with Llwydcoed in charge.

The opening minutes of the second half saw both teams settle down.  West End needed to score to give them belief, the Llwydcoed players knew how quick a goal conceded could change the game.  Llwydcoed's defence kept their shape and let the impressive Junming (Jimmy) Dong create some sublime play.  Llwydcoed introduced their first substitute Cian Cable and he was soon on the score sheet, he moved onto a sublime pass and finished brilliantly to score.  West End used their substitutes and kept trying to find a way back into the match.  Llwydcoed introduced their substitutes Cori Mayby and Callum Henry.  The match was Llwydcoed's to lose they kept their discipline and their star player Junming (Jimmy) Dong was involved again after Jonathan Mason finished off a flowing move to score another top goal and then picked out Elliott Morris to score with a majestic header to finalise the scoring.  West End tried to reduce the scoreline but the Llwydcoed defence stood firm fully supported by their goalkeeper Andy Hargreaves to record a vital victory.
