ABERGAVENNY TOWN v AFC LLWYDCOED 10/8/2019
Llwydcoed's opening match of the 2019/2020 Season started with a superb team display gaining the all important victory, thanks to a brace of goals from Cian Cable (2) and Ross Daniels (1).
Llwydcoed welcomed three new players into the squad Craig Williams, Corey Roberts and Cory Leighton.
The home ground playing surface was in tip top condition inviting football to be played. The opening play saw Llwydcoed gaining the control with Jordan Ellis, Lewis Holder and Elliot Morris creating openings for Craig Williams and Ross Daniels. Aber responded with Aaron Norman, William Duggan and Nathan Davies trying to stop the threat and then against the run of play Aber won a corner, they had a free header that was missed but as the cross came across it struck the arm of Llwydcoed defender Luke Davies so Aber were awarded a penalty scored by Sean Feeley. The response by Llwydcoed players were immediate with Luke Spencer and Gabriel Williams combining with Cian Cable, they deservedly equalised after the non stop work rate by Ross Daniels, Corey Leighton and Craig Williams saw the Aber defence lose possession and Cian Cable equalised with a top finish. The work rate by Llwydcoed's midfield was superb. Aber although they could not gain any sustained possession they were still dangerous on occasions. Llwydcoed's Gabriel Williams made one tremendous tackle to stop a goal bound chance for the Aber player and then Aber punished Llwydcoed's defence for some sloppy play, a missed time pass saw Aber's Rhys Tandy race away and shot past Llwydcoed's goalkeeper Andy Hargreaves to score.
Aber started the second half in control they began to create openings that the Llwydcoed defence/midfield were able to stop. After the opening quarter of the second half Llwydcoed introduced Matthew Hunt replacing Elliot Morris. Shortly afterwards Corey Roberts replaced Craig Williams the impact was immediate, his first touch saw him hit a superb cross to find Cian Cable who scored with a majestic header to equalise. The Llwydcoed supporters could sense another goal and more brilliant play by Llwydcoed's Luke Spencer, Ross Daniels and Cian Cable saw them win a corner taken by Cian Cable and Ross Daniels scored with a towering header. Llwydcoed used their final substitute with Callum Henry replacing the impressive Cian Cable. Aber responded and began to look dangerous on occasions but the victory was Llwydcoed's deservedly. The three new players helping in a top victory.
