- Match Report - West End v AFC Llwydcoed

Llwydcoed travelled to Pryderi Park looking to secure a deserved point but West End were gifted the points with a bizarre own goal in the ninetieth minute.

The AFC Llwydcoed Management Team of Matthew Driscoll and Lewis Holder made two changes from last week's cup defeat at Dinas Powys with Lewis Holder and Ross Daniels restored.

The match started with West's Nathan Brain and John Eames threatening the Llwydcoed defence.  The visitors then began to control possession through Lewis Holder, Ioan Evans, Jordan Ellis and Ross Daniels.  They won a few free  kicks as West End tried to stop Llwydcoed from dominating.  More good play by Llwydcoed saw Elliot Morris linking up the play with Jordan Ellis.  The opening twenty minutes was being spoilt by too many stoppages.  The West End goalkeeper Scott Coughlin was a plus for his team with his kicks in out of hand putting pressure on the Llwydcoed defence the hosts then had a spell and the visiting goalkeeper Andy Hargreaves saved a close range shot and Jerome Begley and Daryl Hughes created danger that the Llwydcoed defenders Christopher Bristow, Luke Davies, Liam Jones and Gabriel Williams cleared.

Llwydcoed were still creating some excellent moves involving Jordan Ellis, Elliot Morris  and Ross Daniels who thought he had scored but the goal was ruled out for offside.  The West End defence and goalkeeper were by far busier than the visitors team but that elusive goal they deserved did not arrive.  Just before half time the Llwydcoed goalkeeper Andy Hargreaves made a top save tipping a header from West End's Nathan Brain onto the crossbar and catching the rebound that was a let off for the visitors after controlling possession in the first half.

HT 0-0

The second half began with Llwydcoed forced into a change with Christopher Bristow being substituted and early in the second half Gabriel Williams was struggling with an injury that did not stop Llwydcoed from gaining possession the West End goalkeeper Scott Coughlin saving from Ross Daniels.  More good play this time a perfect clearance from Llwydcoed's goalkeeper Andy Hargreaves found Ross Daniels who linked on to Ioan Evans but  the West End defence stood firm and then things began to go wrong for the visitors losing Lewis holder through injury followed by Elliott Morris.  This disrupted the shape of the team but the introduction of substitutes Michael Davies, Robert Evans and Callum Henry soon brought more pressure, the work rate of Jordan Ellis and the amazing attitude of Ross Daniels who was being battered all game but was always ready to work for the team.  The West End goalkeeper Scott Coughlin saved his team with two storming saves from Jordan Ellis and Elliot Morris but still no goals in the Llwydcoed goal account.

The remaining quarter saw West End push forward but no real danger for Llwydcoed.  Both teams had players sent off and then came the bizarre own goal to give  West End the points.  A cruel blow for the Llwydcoed players to accept they  had given 100% and still lost.
