AFC LLWYDCOED v LLANELLI TOWN 13/1/2018

Llwydcoed's brave attempt to cause a Cup upset failed the Reds moved through to the Semi Final with a quality display. The Llwydcoed players deserve lots of credit for staying in the game when they were being outplayed.

AFC Llwydcoed Manager Mr Lee Williams was unable to select goalkeeper Ryan Griffiths and Rikki Evans who were cup tied so young Callum Quinton made his début and Morgan Andrews started the attraction of the Reds Team and star player Lee Trundle made for an excellent size crowd.

The match began with The Reds settling down on the Llwydcoed pitch which was in excellent condition. The movement of the visitors was superb with Jordan Davies, James Loveridge and Lee Trundle combining. Llwydcoed's defence were under pressure from the start with Luke Davies and Stuart Evans clearing the danger and the young Llwydcoed goalkeeper Callum Quinton saving brilliantly when Llwydcoed had possession they began to build through Liam Price, Morgan Andrews, Ioan Evans and Ricky Carter. The Reds defence were being tested who in turn cleared the threat, the pressure by The Reds prowess saw them threaten to score on numerous occasions, one shot crashed against the post but the opening goal arrived, Llwydcoed lost possession The Reds moved it at pace and although the Llwydcoed goalkeeper made a brilliant save Lee Trundle followed up to score with a tap in after more pressure by The Reds Llwydcoed began to gain some possession through Scott Walters, Ricky Carter and Luke Garthwaite. The hosts players had responded well but that soon changed The Reds gained possession off two Llwydcoed mistakes and Jordan Fellows and James Loveridge scored.

HT 0-3

The second half started with the Llwydcoed players realising they had to show belief and team spirit to stop The Reds from scoring the next goal and try and reduce the score line. They began to gain possession through Luke Garthwaite, Jay Woodford and Liam Price, The Reds defenders Lee Bevan, Kurtis March and Robert Thomas were up for the challenge. Llwydcoed were having their best spell with Ioan Evans and Ricky Carter almost scoring. The Reds came through this spell and began to find space in the Llwydcoed shape forcing more pressure on the Llwydcoed defence and goalkeeper who had been brilliant but the quality of Jordan Fellows saw him score two more goals to complete his hat trick. The introduction of Llwydcoed's substitutes Chris Stonelake. Liam Jones and Jordan Ellis saw them gain good possession and they created a superb goal with Chris Stonelake picking out Ioan Evans, he raced past The Reds defender to shoot low past The Reds goalkeeper Craig Morris to score the best goal of the match. The Reds were still really dangerous in the attacking department with Lee Trundle showing his skill at close quarters but Llwydcoed's defence showed superb belief and withstood all the pressure, they turned
