- Match Report - AFC Porth v Llanelli Town

Nathanial Car Sales Cup Round 2.
Weds 23rd August 2017. Attendance 95. AFC Porth 1 (Haley 44mins) LLanelli Town 7 (Samuel,Jones,Clarke,Bevan,Trundle3)

It was always going to be tough,

Llanelli have already beaten First Division Taffs Well, & Briton Ferry scoring 5 and 4 goals respectivly.
Its made all the more difficult when within an hour of kick off four players are unavailable. Again we had 3 debutants,- many thanks to Goalkeeper Lee Scott for signing on Tuesday as Ryan Betteney unavalable due to work committments, fair to say he helped keep the score down with some great saves. Also making their debuts Tom Haley, Joey Adamo, both did really well and we look forward to all their contributions in the season ahead. We lost Callum Webber after just 10 mins , from a makeshift back for that only had one recognised defender, Brad Williams, hopefully Callum will recover from his calf injury in time for saturday, hes been a revelation at just 18yrs old, his attitude, committment spot on.

The opening 15 mins were fairly even with us getting some joy by using the wingbacks, and getting down the flanks of Llanelli, utilising the vast expanse of Dinas Park. Once Llanelli scored on 17 mins however, they showed their class with pace, power and movement, and unfortunately, despite a valiant effort from the players, they raced into a six goal lead. Porth showed their never say die attitude, and scored the best goal of the game on 44 mins as Tom Haley, showed poise and composure to rifle an unstoppable shot past Coughlin in the Reds goal. Its fair to say the second half was more quieter for the Porth defence, Scott made several good saves, but Trundle scored the only goal on 74 mins to round off a stunning team performance from the Reds.

Everyone deserves credit for that attitude, and special mention to Brock, Rees,Hughes who all played despite carrying injuries before the game even kicked off. Also thanks to Alex Adshead, Paul Nagi for their help on the gate, the shock at having to pay £149.70p in Officilal's charges, no fault of theirs they were fantastic as always,

Thanks Wayne Tregonning,Paul Walters and Luke Mansell were offset by the takings on the gate, and in the Tuc, many thanks to another debutant Katie Allen in the Tuc shop, she sold everything..great work Katie, trouble is now you got a job for life on a saturday afternoon !

Also we must mention the support from local teams like Trebanog FC, and Porth Harlequins FC last nite was fanatstic to see so many old faces coming along, paying their fiver and supporting, clapping and cheering as every goal went in Dai Iawn boys.
