AFC Llwydcoed's U/16 have completed their “Double” by winning the Aberdare Rhondda Junior Football League. U/16 Division mid week with a 100% record played twenty games, winning twenty. The next challenge awaiting for them was The South Wales Football Association U/16 Cup Final at Kymco Stadium Bridgend v Port Talbot Town Blues.
The stage was set and the AFC Llwydcoed U/16 players did not disappoint their Parents, Official, Coaches and Supporters. They settled early and scored through Cian Cable what a start. They soon added a second through Jay Woodford. The Town responded and reduced the scoreline, back came Llwydcoed scoring two more through Jay Woodford and Liam Price. The goals scored were so impressive as was the team play with Captain Leo Thomas leading by example. Another goal for Llwydcoed arrived with Connor Phelan finishing off a flowing move the Town scored their second showing they were still in the game. What an outstanding first half by all the Llwydcoed players.
AFC Llwydcoed Manager Mr Howard John and Coach Mr Andrew Stevenson half time team talk was more of the same. They did not allow The Town players any space working and covering for each other and went on to score another three goals through Liam Price, Kieran Evans and Connor Phelan to gain an emphatic victory and in doing so became the first team ever from Llwydcoed to win the Cup making history. A special day for everyone at Llwydcoed. It takes a special Manager, Coaches to reach this outstanding achievement.
