It is with regret that Cwmbran Celtic have accepted the resignation of Dean Morris as team manager. A few weeks back Dean temporarily stood down because of a serious illness in his family. However it has since become apparent that he is not going to be able to devote sufficient time to running the 1stteam. The club fully understands that family comes first and we extend our very best wishes to Dean and his family at this difficult time.
Dean was with the club for a little over a year in which he steered the club to promotion back to the Welsh League 1st Division. He quickly put his own stamp on the style of football the team played, winning their last 10 games of 2015/16 with Dean twice winning Welsh League manager of the month. He leaves the team in 5th place in the current 1st Division table.
Celtic stalwart Lee Challenger, 11 years with the club as a player, has been running the side over the past fortnight and he now steps up to team manager with immediate effect. Rakesh Patel continues in the role of player coach and club captain Rhys Williams will be Lee’s assistant for the remainder of the season as he continues to recover from an operation. To complete the changes in the boot room, another former Celtic player James Kinsella joins as goalkeeping assistant and first aider.
