- Double transfer blow for Monmouth Town

Ebbw Vale-born Dafydd Jones scored eight Division One goals on loan from Newport County this season with Monmouth hoping the 18-year-old would remain to help the clubs' fight against relegation from the top flight.

However Jones, a free agent after being released by County last month, has joined Welsh Premier League side Aberystwyth Town on a permanent basis.

Monmouth manager Ross Kennedy was then knocked back in his attempt to recruit County academy forward Keyron Tolland.

However because second-year scholar Tolland has played for County's youth set-up and had a loan spell with Monmouth's divisional rivals Penybont, the Football Association of Wales rejected the move.

FIFA rules insist no player at any level of the game be allowed to appear for more than two clubs in a season.

Academy product Jones made his senior County debut in a Football League Cup, first-round tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2015, but was twice an unused substitute in league matches.

He is expected to be named in Aberystwyth's squad for Saturday's WPL clash against visiting Airbus UK Broughton while Monmouth travel to Port Talbot to face hosts Goytre United on the same day.

Monmouth sit one place and three points outside of the top-tier relegation zone with 11 fixtures remaining.

Meanwhile one successful signing for the Kingfishers see the return of central midfielder Joe Loftus.

The 25-year-old played for the club in 2014-2015, when they finished in sixth place, and part of last season.
He is a former captain of Hereford United's youth side and has also appeared for Pegasus Juniors, Cinderford Town and Viney St. Swthins (Forest of Dean).

The Football Association of Wales has confirmed the following transfers have been completed:

Gareth Appleby, Panteg to Lucas Cwmbran
Ben Banks, Panteg to Nelson Cavaliers
Warren Dunraven, Risca United to Whiteheads United (Risca)
Cael Jones, Ton Pentre to Treowen Stars
Jake Lowe, Newport City to Goytre
Darren Luff, Chepstow Town to Tintern Abbey FC;
Jacob Wescombe, Ynysddu Welfare to Aberbargoed Buds.

Caldicot Town have re-arranged last Saturday's postponed away Division One clash with Caerau (Ely) for Wednesday, April 12 (kick off 6.30pm).
