- Panteg sign leading scorer

PANTEG have beaten many higher-placed Welsh League clubs to secure the signature of highy-rated goal scorer Nathan Doe from AFC Porth.

The former 20-year-old Newport County academy product has dropped down a division to join third-tier outfit Panteg and arrives having scored eight times in 12 league appearances this season for his former club.

He was Porth’s leading league scorer in 2015-2016 with 16 goals and has also had a brief spell with Risca United.

He is expected to go straight into Panteg’s squad for Saturday’s away Division Three game against Penrhiwceiber Rangers.

A Panteg spokesman remarked: “We are delighted to announce the signing of Nathan Doe from AFC Porth.

“He has been a regular scorer in Division Two over recent seasons and is a fantastic signing for the club.”

Doe’s arrival boosts Panteg’s attacking options, although they already have a couple of proven scorers in Luke Dyke and Lewis Iles, who have netted 15 and 13 league goals this season respectively.

With 36 goals, Panteg are the fourth highest scorers in the 16-club section, although they are just three points above the relegation zone.
